Well the weather played ball again with another lovely day. In fact I went back into T shirts having recently migrated into short sleeve jumpers. After breakfasts took dogs for quick walk whilst cottage guests got ready for departure. Today is the last Saturday ftb with a big changeover so in a way it marks the end of the summer season. Seven cottages out with one changing to another to stay for a few more nights and six back in, three of which have been before and one in for two weeks. With three cleaners and Fay up today and no problems encountered most cleaning was finished by 1.30. With a little time to spare one of the cleaners stayed behind for a bit longer and we did some extra tasks including defrosting a fridge, changing shower curtains and a utensil check. All the guests arrived from 3pm (on the dot!) to 5 pm. Cooked a quick dinner before we headed off to the Over Haddon Village Hall for the annual ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert by the Bakewell Silver Band. With time to relax and enjoy the music I had a couple of thoughts. Wouldn’t it be nice if the BBC Proms featured concerts like this, imagine Last night of the Proms from Glasgow, Belfast and Over Haddon! It is always a good evening. Also I reflected on the tremendous amount I have learnt since being here, a new business, all about farming and the difference between a silver and brass band! Summer is over once the Proms are finished!
