Out and about

IMG_2745Friday 26 September saw two departures and two arrivals at our Bolehill cottages near Bakewell (see here).  One cleaner here.  Another pleasant day and Chris cleared the courtyard of leaves for the first time this year.  Final checks in cottages and some preparations for Saturday and first cottage here by 4pm.  Some bookings for next year from guests departing on Saturday.  In the evening we went to Buxton to the Pavilion Arts Centre for a lecture and video slide show by Chris Weston a natural wildlife photographer. By the time we got back second cottage had arrived.  A much colder night but another fine day on Saturday.  One of those misty starts which makes for nice photos especially if you catch balloons rising above the mist in the dales.  Down to the Farmers Market first thing having said goodbye to the four departing cottages. Three cleaners here.  On my return had a potential new cleaner visit as I had recently placed an advert to bolster the team.  Chris cut the grass. Four arrivals and three have been before.  Three arrived between 3 and 4 pm with final one about 6 pm.  After an early tea we headed to IMG_2747Over Haddon for this years visit by the Bakewell Silver Band.  As usual a wonderful evening.  Sunday was a wonderfully warm day for the end of September.  No departures but one arrival later in the afternoon, cottage already cleaned.  A day of odd jobs and a little relaxing.  Chris watered the hanging baskets again, they are still blooming away and the Virginia Creeper is turning a nice shade of red. Did think about going out for lunch but guests were saying how busy Bakewell and everywhere else was.  Cottage arrived about 4pm.  After being out for the last couple of nights we had a quiet night in and watched Countryfile with the ‘One man and his dog’  finals.
