Here it is again!

IMG_3701Tuesday 27th January was a dull day at our Bolehill cottages near Bakewell (see here), not that I saw much of it.  It was my designated Bookers run to Chesterfield and armed with a shopping list of my own as well as one from Chris I went off in search of paint, furniture, toilet rolls and cushions!  Left Chris with handyman doing odd jobs in Derwent and one cleaner doing more painting.  A long day for both of us to opted for fish and chips in the evening.  Wednesday was a day of sunshine and wintry showers. Some heavy with hail too.  One cleaner here to carry on with cleaning and Chris and I spent time in jobs around the cottages.  Down to Bakewell early afternoon to get provisions for the next few days.  A covering of hail and snow was on the ground by the time we went to bed and by the time we woke up there was a good inch of snow on the ground.  With handyman up early he and Chris cleared the drive.  Our existing guests opted for a walk to Lathkill Dale where they said there was no snow.  One cleaner up but by mid morning it was snowing heavily and left another two inches.  Chris was down in Bakewell and phoned to say not to let the cleaner leave as the roads were not good.  She waited for a while and before we let her go Chris drove down the road first to make sure it was safe.  The sun came out in the afternoon so I took the dogs for a walk and took some photos.  We had a total of three inches with Buxton having six, well they always get more, and Sheffield over a foot.  Lorries couldn’t get up the hill out of Ashbourne so that caused temporary gridlock in the town.  More cold weather is forecast so this snow ain’t going anywhere in a hurry!
