The first snow

IMG_7795Not unexpectedly we woke up to a covering of snow on Saturday 21st November at our Bolehill cottages near Bakewell (see here).  Although the sun melted some snow the cold wind was a noticeable feature and there was ice around as well.  Two departures and one arrival and one cleaner here to keep up with cleaning.  Everything ready before lunch so the rest of the day went on jobs around the house and accounts.  Took Smudge for a walk in the afternoon to admire the snowy scene.  Cottage arrived just after 4pm, they have been before.  Used the rest of the afternoon to do some cooking.  Sunday was overcast but IMG_7785a bit milder, mind you it was icy to start with.  Three departures but no arrivals.  Down to Bakewell to get the paper then a quiet day at home.  Monday saw no departures or arrivals but one cleaner here to keep up with cleaning.  I took advantage of the quiet day to do jobs in vacant cottages, mainly laundry related jobs.  Amazing how quickly the day can go this way.  Chris and Mark from Over Haddon started some work in Lathkill.  In the evening I went to Over Haddon for indoor bowls.  I was the IMG_7792overall winner of the evening, more because others lost rather than I won!  Tuesday was a showery day, some heavy but still quite cold.  Again no arrivals or departures and in the morning jobs around the house and cottages.  Tuesday handyman here and he was also doing jobs in Lathkill with Chris.  In the afternoon I went to Morrisons in Buxton.  The roads were very wet after some heavy down pours.  This reminds me that the River Lathkill has only started running again in the last couple of weeks, the latest it has been known to restart flowing after the summer absence for many years.
