By Wednesday 2 March there was a yellow warning in place for snow at our Bolehill cottages near Bakewell (see here). Wednesday itself was a cold but a sunny day. No departures or arrivals and a day of jobs in the house and vacant cottages. Also had a new card machine installed. In the evening we joined one of the cottages for a drink and some nibbles. Thursday was again another fine day although it clouded up later in the afternoon. One departure but no arrivals. Down to Bakewell in the morning to get provisions for the next couple of days as well as regular check up at the dentist. The forecast at lunchtime was predicting up to 10cm of snow in the Peak District so I contacted the arrival for Friday as well as chatting to the cottage departing on Friday. We also cancelled the cleaner for Friday as she would have problems getting here and cleaned the vacated cottage ourselves. So it was surprising to wake up to just a dusting of snow, the worst had fallen further north with Buxton having up to a reported 17cm. Cottage departed without any problems and by mid morning it was snowing with more blizzard like conditions at lunchtime. Cottage arrived just after 3pm. With no significant snowfall during the afternoon we were left with a good covering of snow by the end of the day. So it could have been a lot worse and from Eyam northwards it was!
