Wintry weather

Tuesday started fine but degenerated into some wintry showers, at one point it looked like the snow would settle.  One cottage out and one cleaner up.  Handyman also up to put up the Christmas lights at our peak district cottages so I was happy.  In the evening we went to Chatsworth House (again) this time to see a preview of a light show called Elemental Force. This used Chatsworth House as a backdrop for a light and sound show to create a film of the areas industrial heritage and history.  There was also a high wire act and fireworks.  There will be a number of similar events at other historic properties in the area over the next few months.   It did not last long but was very fascinating.  After this we went to the Devonshire Arms in Pilsley for a bite to eat.  Wednesday was another cold fine day and I used the day to do some accounts in the morning and in the afternoon Chris and I sat down and planned some jobs that  need doing.  In the evening Joanna collected me and we went to Bakewell for this months committee meeting.  Next week’s party and next year’s programme were the main discussion points.  The forecast for Thursday included snow so first thing on Thursday morning Chris took me down to Bakewell so I could get the provisions for the weekend.  We then popped over to Buxton to check on progress.  On the way back it started to flurry but all we ended up with was a covering.  Later on it rained then snowed again and then it got cold.  Here are some photos from Thursday morning’s colourful sunrise.  I was disturbed by a flock of Fieldfares that flew overhead.  At this time of year we usually have some flocks in our fields.
