So Friday 16 September saw the weather returning to normal for the time of year. Guests say they saw storms in the distance early in the morning and the early morning rain gave way to a drier and pleasant afternoon. One departure and one arrival with one cleaner here. Made the most of a quiet day to prepare for Saturday and do some housework. Cottage arrived about 8.30, they have been many time before. Saturday got off to a dull start but it brightened up in the afternoon. A busy day with six departures and five arrivals with one delayed arrival due to illness. Three cleaner here and all ready by 3pm. Four arrivals between 3&4pm with final cottage here at 7pm. All have been before. Fish and chips for tea and it was too dark to take Smudge out by the time we had eaten. Sunday was a fine warm day. The day started with mist in the dales that gradually disappeared with the suns’ warmth. Two departures but no arrivals. Had coffee with one of the cottages on our patio in the morning followed by a quiet afternoon. In the evening we went to the Village Hall to see Spectre which we both enjoyed. Monday was cooler but brightened up in the afternoon. No departures or arrivals but one cleaner here to keep up with cleaning. In the afternoon we went to Buxton to do some shopping calling in at Morrisons and B&Q on the way back. Tuesday was a mild day. One departure and two arrivals and one cleaner here. Housework and paperwork during the afternoon with both cottages arriving around 4.30. Finished the day with a number of bookings. Wednesday was a mild day. No arrivals or departures and I was down to Bakewell first thing for my dancing. A quiet afternoon catching up on jobs including washing the car. Chris did some outside jobs. It’s time to think about putting away parasols and other summer garden furniture. Rain arrived later in the evening and for the first time for a while I got wet taking Smudge for his evening walk.
