Saturday 26 July All change!

A good day weather wise was forecast which helps with a busy day ahead. Seven cottages out and eight in! Three cleaners up with Fay to help as well. First for me after saying goodbye to guests was Farmers Market. A BBQ slant to my purchases. Back to Bolehill and no problems encountered with cleaning and with Fay here too all done by 1.30. Two returning guests in today with one couple in for two weeks. Steady arrival of guests from 3 to 5pm. As it had been a very warm day we went down to Over Haddon at about 6pm and did our short circuit of the Lathkill Dale with a stop at the Lathkill Hotel. Back for beans on toast before sitting down.

Friday 25 July

Warmest day of the year so far. One B&B out and back in. Went down to Bakewell late morning after doing usual chores. One cleaner up. After lunch plenty to keep me occupied including getting this months accounts up to date. B&B guests arrive just before 6pm. In the evening had hoped for a late walk but the skies darkened and a few showers dampened the earth so no walk.

Thursday 24 July

Another warm day forecast. One B&B out and one back in with one cleaner up. Bits and pieces in the morning and in the afternoon went to see Mama Mia at Chesterfield with one of the cleaners and her two daughters. A very enjoyable film. On the way back stopped at Pets at Home, Next and Dunelm! New B&B in whilst I was away.

Wednesday 23 July

A quiet day with no one in or out so some time to catch up on tasks such as washing spare curtains while the weather was good. Stayed cloudy most of the day despite a brighter day being forecast. Two Hercules planes flew over very low late afternoon (or the same one twice). Sun came out early evening so we packed some food and went for a short walk and had a picnic tea. Back to some phone calls and emails before sitting down about 9.30.

Tuesday 22 July

A busy day with one B&B out and back in and two cottages in too. Later breakfasts but swallows out so dogs more interested in chasing them then going for a walk with me! A bit cloudy to start and despite the fact more sun forecast it never materialised. One cleaner up and after lunch went down Bakewell. Forgot to allow time for road closure so when got back both cottage guest had not long arrived so had a chat with both of them. By time sorted out shopping B&B guests arrived just as sun made a brief appearance. Finished sorting out my suitcase and caught up on some phone calls before dinner. Finished at 9.30.

Monday 21 July back to normal

Up and two later breakfasts this morning. No one out but two cottages due in later today. Another pleasant day forecast. One cleaner up and two cottages cleaned. First couple arrived early as they had not been able to park in Bakewell but as their cottage was ready they could settle in. They have been here before. After lunch went to Buxton to stock up on groceries. Bought a few bits from Waitrose in the hope that we can have a picnic one evening this week. Second guests arrived just before 9pm. They have been here before. Sat down about 9.30 having sorted out laundry, emails and phone calls and watched New Tricks. One late phone call with a cottage cancellation due to illness.

Sunday 20 July

A pleasant day forecast with both B&B out and both back in. So after a quick trip to Bakewell for a few provisions and the paper one cleaner up to turn both rooms round. After lunch just checking the rooms when first guests arrived an hour early. As it was nice Chris cut the grass while I looked at some outstanding paper work. Tax bill due, VAT bill due and whilst I was away the form for advertising in next years Visit Peak District & Derbyshire brochure arrived and the deadline is just over a week away. Second guests arrived about 5pm, they have just got married. Finished about 7pm then had dinner and sat down. Chris has spent some time over the last few days putting together an abbreviated version of the photos of my hols to email to friends.

Saturday 19 July a quiet change over

After breakfast two cleaners arrived. All cottages out and only three back in today. The rest of the cottages are in for short breaks on Monday or Tuesday. Six cottages completed by lunchtime with no major problems encountered. First guests here at three, they have been here before, and remaining guests arrived between 4.30 and 5pm. Started to find my feet again and catch up with what has happened in my absence. Cooked a dinner then sat down.

Friday 18 June Welcome Home

Docked at 5am and disembarkation began at 8.30 although we did not get off until 10.20. A drive back to dads the a light lunch before sister took me to station to catch train. Back at Macclesfield at 5pm with a rapturous welcome from dogs and a hug from hubby! Over a misty Cat & Fiddle where it was drizzling and back home by 6pm. Seemed so quiet with no engine noise and no motion. Also strange to look out and see hills not sea! After dinner got myself mentally sorted for tomorrow! Both B&B rooms in tonight arriving 10.30pm from London.

Thursday 17 July At Sea

Our last full day and plenty to do. Luckily the sea had not been too bad during the night. After breakfast a little bit of free time so we started some packing before our first lecture which was about metabolism and keeping fit. After that we went to a talk given by the Chief Engineer on the workings of the boat. This was not just about the technical aspects of the engines but also looked at the other systems needed by the boat such as fresh water and waste systems. There were a lot of questions from the audience (a packed cinema/theatre) so by the time it finished it was lunchtime! After lunch went in search of the gym as sister wanted to try out the walking machine (under the supervision of the instructor) so I went off and blogged for a bit before spending an hour on deck reading before it got a bit cold. Then last afternoon tea and last swim before last dinner! Fond farewells then packed case and early night whilst heading for Dover. At least we gained our final hour back!
