Work continues in the cottages

where are the cows?

where are the cows?

Work in Lathkill and Magpie continued on Wednesday 26th November at our Bolehill cottages near Bakewell (see link).  If they were waiting for something to dry or set in Magpie they would go and do a bit more painting in Lathkill. Magpie has new kitchen lights and the outside kitchen wall has been dry lined.    I carried on with general business and accounts.  It was quite a murky day but not as cold as Tuesday.  The new kitchen top should have been fitted in Magpie on Thursday but the fitter couldn’t make it so there was three of them painting and varnishing in Lathkill as the new cleaner came up for a few hours as well.  We only have a couple of vacancies for Christmas and New Year now.  Spent some time planning the next few weeks, can’t believe it is almost December.  Had hoped the foggy weather would lift by Friday but it didn’t.  Some more cows went back across the road in the afternoon.  The new work top got fitted in Magpie so they made a start on tiling the kitchen.  No departures but two arrivals and one cleaner here.  Final checks and odd jobs in cottages.  First guests arrived IMG_3170just after 3pm, they have been before with second cottage here just before 5pm.  In the evening we went to Buxton to see Dawn French at the Opera House . That ends our recent weekly trip to the opera house  of late but the new programme should be out shortly.  In the winter we often get murmurations of starlings in the fields.  There have been some very large murmurations sighted near Stoney Middleton but ours were impressive enough.  Also caught one of Tony Robinson’s latest ‘Walking in History’ programmes that featured the part that the Peak District played during the reign of King John.  Learnt a few things there.
