Tuesday 11 March

A quieter day and a chance to catch up after a busy day yesterday. One cottage out today and one of the cleaners came up in the evening and cleaned the cottage and games room. Went down to Bakewell in the afternoon. Sat down in time for CSI although the phone did go a couple of times after that.

Monday 10 March

Another busy Monday with Chris taking the dogs out while I did some ironing. Five cottages out with five back in so two cleaners up today. The day started pleasant enough but deteriorated from lunchtime. Not as bad as elsewhere in the country. Over .5 in rain today, most before breakfast. A busy Monday for emails and phone calls and we are now fully booked for the Easter weekend. Met up with the guests that arrived yesterday. First two guests in between 3.30 to 4 pm with next about 4.30. Two businessmen, this is the last week they are here, arrived between 5.30 to 6pm. Caught up with paper work before sitting down at 9pm but two phone calls in quick succession soon disturbed that!

Sunday 9 March

Off to York today to visit Chris’s parents but not before saying goodbye to both B&B guests. Left about 11.30 and stopped at Makro to return a TV we bought that seemed to be tuned for Europe rather than the UK. While we were away one set of cottage guests arrived and as they have been here a number of times they were able to settle in without our assistance. Back about 9pm to find a number of emails and telephone messages waiting for me! Missed the final of Crufts but it was nice to see on the web site that the Samoyed was reserve Best in Show.

Saturday 8 March

A quieter day but plenty achieved. One cottage out and one back in with one cleaner up today. A wet day forecast but turned out not as bad as predicted. Spent the afternoon catching up with accounts with Chris’s help so I can stop fretting for a few days at least! Cooked a dinner to take with us tomorrow when we visit Chris’s parents. Sat down to watch Crufts 2008, Blue enjoys watching this – as the wet nose marks on the TV prove! Shame we will miss some of his favourite bits as the agility and fly ball will be on tomorrow. Pastoral group was won by a Samoyed.

Friday 7th March

A bright and breezy start to the day. Electricity men up to do audit of work carried out on trees. Four cottages out and two cleaners up. Due in today were four cottages and two B&B. Two cottage guest have been here before. No problems encountered with cleaning. Both B&B and two cottages in by 5pm and remaining two cottages arrived around 8pm. Did a bit of ‘computer gardening’ as I need to order my summer plants soon. Sat down for 9pm.

Thursday 6 March

Took dogs for walk then went down to Bakewell. Took couple without car down town so they could get some bits. Spent rest of day doing housework, getting b&b and other bits ready for tomorrow. The cottage that Chris and the handyman worked in was cleaned yesterday so I rehung curtains etc. In the evening did some accounts then sat down for Ashes to Ashes.

Wednesday 5 March Chesterfield and Flagg

Up and off to Chesterfield earlier than usual as Chris took dogs out for their walk – that confused them – they were still looking at me with the expression that said when are you taking us out. A quick walk around Chesterfield before going to Dunelm and Morrisons on the way home. Wednesday is a quieter day in Chesterfield as there is no official market but the regular markets are always popular and busy and the Thursday market, a flea market is always interesting. As went there early was able to get back early which was good as I had the annual WI celebration meal to look forward to. This was at the Edge Close Tea Rooms at Flagg not far from here. Flagg is a small village and is famous for its annual point to point race held every Easter Tuesday. I is the last remaining natural point to point run over ntural countryside. We have been to Flagg Races (http://www.flaggraces.co.uk/) a couple of times and it is an interesting afternoon. Picked up Joanna before heading round to Flagg. A nice meal and time was had by all.

Tuesday 5 March

A white start but that soon went. Popped into Bakewell early before getting on with bits. A day doing bits where I could. No-one out but one cottage back in, they arrived early just as I was changing a pair of curtains. Handyman has been working in one of the cottages yesterday and today, so I stripped all the curtains and throws etc for washing. This set me off on a trail of curtains so I ended up replacing one set of curtains with a new set and measuring up for some more. I am going to Chesterfield tomorrow, the trouble is I will have a list and probably find nothing and when I do see curtains I like I never had the measurements!

Monday 3 March

More in than out today but a light dusting of snow to start the day that soon disappeared once the sun was up. One B&B out and three cottages back in with one staying another week so in total six cottages in tonight. Two cleaners up but no problems encountered. Two business men, one with colleague in two cottages were first to arrive and remaining guests arrived about six pm. Chris went to the photographic society in Bakewell and I worked through until 10 pm. It snowed for a while and seemed to settle.

Sunday 2 March

Another paper work day but not before said goodbye to one B&B and two cottages. Went down to Bakewell to do a bottle bank run and get the Sunday Paper. On the way back we stopped at Green Cowden Farm where we saw some of the new lambs. I helped give some of them their feed, these were the weaker ones, perhaps not strong enough to fight a sibling for milk. The next lot of lambs are due in 2-3 weeks time at Easter! Finished about 7pm.
